Posted under poker & poker news & poker tournament & texas hold em

Full Tilt has just opened an innovative info section covering all the action of the “Durrrr Challenge”, an incredible online heads up tournament highlighting some of the world’s best big money online poker players challenging the poker sensation Tom “durrrr” Dwan.

The brand new section gives poker players and followers the chance to stay on top of this amazing durrrr challenge and receive frequent statistical updates. With this brand new “durrrr Challenge” website players can track all the action and look at each poker hand played during durrrr Challenge, and look at lots of stats, including number of hands played, session time, amount won, average won during each hand and much more.

Close to six months ago, the twenty-three year old online poker player issued a heads-up challenge for any poker player with the money, time and capability to accept it. Any player entering the challenge has to bet $500,000 against Tom’s $1.5 million. Tom’s challenge specifies that at least 50,000 online poker hands need to be played simultaneously at 4 or more tables of no-limit Hold’em or pot-limit Omaha. At the end of the durrrr challenge, the poker player who has more money will earn the pool. Basically if you enter the challenge and win $1 after the 50,000 poker hands, then you will get Tom’s $1.5 Million, but if he wins by $1 then he will take your $500,000.

To date, a number of poker players have consented to play the “durrrr challenge”, including WSOP Champ Phil Ivey and David Benyamine, yet, only Patrick Antonius has accepted the durrrr challenge. At this point, both poker stars have engaged in a total of 20,647 poker hands out of 50,000, with durrrr ahead $726,546 total.

60 minutes
Sunday night the CBS network will premiere their investigation special “How Online Gamblers Unmasked Cheaters”. This investigation special was created after a sixteen week study into the online poker business and particularly a deceitful scandal involving the online poker website Absolute Poker.

This Texas Hold’em site was probed after a few of the poker players on the website stated that someone was illegally winning a great amount of poker chips. Todd Witteles was a key witness in this examination, according to Witteles; he was losing great amounts of money to the exact same Texas Hold’em poker player. Witteles declared that this man was raising against very good hands, most people would have assumed he was simply handing over his money, but he was unbelievably earning a great deal of cash.

Witteles was in the right with his assumptions, later on it was discovered that a person possibly working for the company was able to see any player’s hole cards. At first, Absolute Poker stated that there were no faults with the webpage or the Texas Hold’em poker competitor. After more and more players stepped up with allegations, the Texas Hold’em page investigated deeper into the matter and found the problem.

Around Jan. of 2008, the Kahnawake Gaming Commision discovered what the Texas Hold’em competitors and the poker page had assumed all the time. The investigation proved that, there was a staff member who had hacked the Texas Hold’em site´s security system and was playing dishonestly for around a month and a half. The investigation showed that the Texas Hold’em poker site had not profited from the illegal behavior at all, and was definitely not engaged in the activities.

These illegal activities are further confirmation that there ought to be more regulation regarding online gambling pages. The United States government ought to license and legalize the internet gaming business to defend these honest customers. These guidelines would also control the entry to these sites by children, which is turning into another problem recently.

Take a second to imagine if you were to have a conversation with any ordinary guy or girl off the street about Texas Hold’em, they probably wouldn’t consider Texas Hold’em poker to be a game of tactics, careful planning, or close examination. Probably when you point out online Texas Hold’em poker with them, they would probably imagine some acquaintances lounging around their kitchen table talking and smoking cigarettes. They also may believe online Texas Hold’em poker to be a game of chance and not talent, closer to a game of roulette compared to chess, for instance.

So the big question mark there is: “Is it possible to make a profit by playing poker?”. It may come as a surprise to you but, the answer to this question is a very strong “yes”. More than a few folks not only make a profit by playing online Texas Hold’em, but also make a living by competing in poker tournaments. The first thing you have to remember about online poker is that while you can play in a Vegas casino, beside blackjack tables and slots; in Texas Hold’em you are not contending against the house but against other Texas Hold’em poker competitors. Therefore, in truth, you are putting up your hard cash against other players in a competition of expertise as opposed to a game of chance.

You might be thinking to yourself: “Doesn’t luck play a part?” Certainly in online Texas Hold’em, no one knows which hands will be dealt out.
